Since 2006, the Society has published original writings and research papers about the local history, tradition or culture of the Henderson . Each "little book" by a local author or Society member has enriched our knowledge of this beautiful and historic land in which we, or our ancestor-settler families lived. It is the through the continuing efforts of the Henderson Historical Society and its author-members that these "little" publications continue to delight and expand our vision of Henderson today, yesterday and tomorrow!

Brief History of Henderson , New York , by former HHS President and current Town of Henderson Historian , Eric Anderson. Since moving to Henderson in the early 1990s, Eric has demonstrated with his unique and practical perception of Henderson through the ages. This book is a great addition to the history of the Township.© 2009

Dateline: Turn of the 20th Century, by Richard Overton. This is a collection of articles written originally for the Jefferson County Journal. Written in Dick’s witty and insightful style, these reminiscences of "Household Hints" or "Christmas Past," carry the reader back into life at Robert’s Corner, Henderson . © 2009. [$5]

Original testimony of those families living near the creek at the time of this historic event. [$5]

The History & Evolution of the Henderson Harbor Guideboat, by R. Dewey Peters © 2010. Life Member, R. Dewey Peters has assembled this in depth dissertation on the evolution of boating in Henderson beginning with the French explorers in the 17th century and culminating with work and recreation boats hand crafted in Henderson in the 19th and 20th century. This book is a must for anyone interested in classic wooden boats. [$10 donation goes to the HHS-Peters-Stevens Boat Annex Project]

Champlain’s Arrival on Henderson Shore, 1615, by Frank W. Springsteen & the Story of (his) Painting. © 2008. This 20’ by 5’ foot mural depicting "Champlain landing on Henderson Shore 1615" was originally designed for the library of the former Henderson Central School by Henderson native and New York State muralist, Frank W. Springsteen. During the 2006 Bicentennial of the Town of Henderson , the Henderson Historical Society was granted custodianship of this historic painting by the Belleville-Henderson Central School . This little book includes a color photo of the mural and the descriptive talk Springsteen gave at the painting’s dedication in 1940. There is also a well written biography and black & white photos of the artist. [$5]

Camping and Visiting on Stony Island, by John A. Stevens. This little history book about the Stevens family of Henderson and their connection to Stony Island is beautifully illustrated with photos 3 large color and 14 black & white. (C) 2005 [$12]

From Church to Museum; The story of the Henderson Universalist Church and The Henderson Historical Society Museum . This little book utilizes the words of the HUC historian, M. L. Burnham from the centennial celebration to tell the history of the church community which built this still standing 1839 edifice. Part two contains the1997 letter of Arthur B. Rice, long time HHS Treasurer and co-writer of the HHS Charter explaining who the Society received the historic building and began the work of Museum. The book is complete with eleven full color photos of the building and windows by Horwood stain glass researcher David Martin of Ogdensburg , New York . © 2011 [$5]
